  • Factory Pistons?

I pulled the head off my 1kzte (KZN130) and found a couple of problems. There's some corrosion and scoring in cylinder #2.

One thing I'm puzzling over is the pistons. My block and pistons are stamped with the number 2 (service manual discusses how block and pistons are marked 1, 2, or 3). In addition to these marks, each of my pistons has a letter stamped on it. 1-3 are stamped with 'B', but piston #4 is stamped with a 'C'.

Does anyone know what the letter code's represent?

    Thanks,
    -john

Could be, yeah. It's obvious that my engine has been torn down at some point in the past. The pistons have some additional punch marks somebody put on them to identify which cylinder they came from and the piston in hole #4 is the odd child with the 'C' stamp on it. That one also has a hand-written #4 on it in indelible ink (amazing that it's still there).

Anyway - if anyone else has any ideas let me know.
