  • Driver's side floor is always wet!

    Hi,

I just noticed that the driver's side floor on my 3.0 KZN 185 SSRG is always damp to the point of being wet. I always use the vehicle with AC on. Ill check if it also happens with the AC off.

What do you guys think is wrong?

Does it have a sunroof? And has it been raining recently?
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

Check the air conditioning drain is connected and goes to the outside of the car.

Also, check it's not engine coolant.

ain't the air con drain on the passenger side, where the condenser is

Aye, but I was thinking if it's choked, or not running to the outside, it could be draining into the drivers side some other way?

I'm assuming it's not coolant as that would smell.

There's tap water in the radiator no antifreeze or coolant .... would that smell ?

It would still smell a bit. Are you losing coolant?

And put some coolant in. It won't thank you for just having tap water in there

My pickup did this but I found it was rain coming in the cowl (grill below the wipers).

Rain that goes in there is directed out through holes in the inner wings and falls out at the top of the mudflap. A hole in the panel seam right in the top corner under the dash allowed water in.

I found that it appeared a day or two after heavy rain! This was because the water ran down the corner of the passenger footwell and into the pockets of the floor pan. Only showed up when filled up enough to soak through properly. Also I had leaves blocking the exit holes and only when I drove the vehicle could the water find its way due to gravity.

I even took the heater core out as I thought it was this! Took a while to diagnose. In the end I ran a hose directly into the cowl with the carpets out! and stuck my head under the dash with a torch to see. Fixed with silicone.
Smack it with a 16lb Hammer and it will come off!

Depends which side of the car is the drivers side...

this is true but which ever way you look at it, it's still the passenger side

                            @ All

Thanks for the great response. You guys r real helpful. It's a right hand drive model and the issue is on the driver's side.

From your responses and my intuition, i think its either the AC drain blocked or a busted heater core (or connecting hose).

Will be tweaking it the minute i get some spare time during the day. Would appreciate if you guys could give some tips for this.

                            Its a SSRG 1997 KZN185 with 1KZ-TE.

                            Thanks!
