Are the diffs different too? I have a feeling I've read about this before and as has been said, its probably easier to take the mods off your truck and fit them on a 3.0

Might be interesting but I cant help feel it might be the last time your truck sees the road.

I'll try and remember where I read about it, but it might be the aussie site...

without ruining anyones bonfire... for the 30bhp increase... its really, really hard to justify.

The diffs shouldnt be an issue should they!? As long as the transfer case sits in the same position so the props fit ok then it shouldnt be an issue?!

But either way, say you get a 15-20 bhp increase from a intercooler... its cheaper, simplier an much more advised.

youngoffroader, if you say its blown 4 2.4 engines then i'd suspect that lack of maintenace could be a problem... an id also take a guess at the 3.0ltr going bang too!

Plus, if its all fire damaged, what condition is the loom in?! the last thing you want to do is fit this other engine to just burn your truck to bits.

I have been searching the aussie site all day, well the trucks must start at da same place somewhere so it may just take swapping alot ofparts over.

surely i could leave the diffs aslong as i leave them both?

My local mechanics think it should be possible but they just said to keep the grinder and welder handy for the mounts and have plenty of tools for sorting the electrics.

If it gets to the point where itdoesnt drive again then i shall break it and get a 3litre.

Buy me a brand new set of five, 10"X15" Mickey Thompson classic II wheels complete with 33/12.50/15 BFG or General Grabber A/Ts and I'll fit a Lexus V8 and auto 'box for you.

Er, you supply the Lexus and other parts too.

Didn't mean a different mechanical fit, just meant ratios. Dunno if the ratios would be far enough out from a 3.0 to make a big difference though.

I could just be talking from my poohole though...

Just get a 3.0ltr (black...) an transfer the mods over... then you'll have a 2.4 to sell for say £1K an then your sorted!!

Probably be a difference but maybe not noticeable.

Im starting to look forward to regearing! ( i know im pathetic, i already confessed that)

should make the truck so much nicer to drive. i need to let the gears 'bed in' for the first 100 miles an hardly accelerate... so sometime next year i'll be able to say if it was worth it!

Well, all that remains to be said, is good luck, and (to quote the old eastern Hungarian good luck message) "may all your children have small dicks, even the girls"

the fire was in the boot and the front is all untouched, well the original engine had a rattle to start with and the second one head went and the pistons had abit of blow by so i got neros which was fine till someone punctured my sump(same place my previous vehicles have had vandalism happen) so all my oil dumped then i didnt get very far.

it didnt sieze, but i like toletmy engine warm up before i go anywhere, so i started it and went back inside work came out 10minz later and it wasnt running so i restarted it and it fired up but had a rele loud knock and clank, so got the oilout the back n filled up not believin how much it was taking till i realised there was a nail hammered in my sump! But i happen to have a cctv picof the w****r that done it, the police cudnt help but his picture is now being looked for by all the checkout operators and surounding security guards, i now live closer to work and cycle though so i shudnt have any more problems.
