If i was to fit a 3litre lump into my current 2.4Litre truck, which componants wouldalso needto movewith the engine? I'm guessing ecu's, wiring loom, gearbox and other underbonnet parts? the crank has gone on my 2.4litre engine after it dumped all the oil from the sump and i have been offered a fire damaged 3litre truck which still drives but is beyond repair. Many fanx in advance, Joe.

But my truck has already had far too many mods done to it to start swapping them from one to another. I've been told ithas been done and theres 8 of us with two months of time so it shudnt be a problem, they allspend there days putting engines in cars they're not designed forforinstance right now there finishing the last toucheson putting a big saab engine into a nova, that needed everything changing.

how much is this fire damaged 3.0ltr going for?!

          Is it cost effective??

Is your 2.4 flucked or just a bit underpowered?

If i was doing an engine swap id not waste my time with the 3.0ltr an id look at something bigger.

Also, no matter how many mods you have on your truck, a few days will see most of it removed an refitted on another truck if you have the space/time etc. Which considering your thinking about an engine swap id say you do!

well the trucks got a 6 inch body lift, 4 inch suspension lift. the fire damaged 3 litre isnt for sale its self just the engine as the insurance company are taking the rest along with the previous engine that was fitted.

We really don't mind how much work is involved for this its just a project for us, we were just wondering what parts need to be changed or altered and any snags to watch out for.

            Many thanx

6 inch body lift?! Thats what... double the recommendation aint it?!

anyway, your only looking at adding what, 30 bhp?! for the cost an effort involved fit a K&N an just think "im going faster"

Fit an intercooler an speak with dieselboy, his 2.4 is as fast as his 3.0 with the mods it has.

Not as much time or money to fit an intercooler etc

Well it isnt really to gain more power, its more just as a project. a good friend of mine has offered his help and hes fitted alot of engines into cars they werent desinged for, he splices the new engines loom into the cars loom after tracing what all wires goto. this is was the 3rd 2.4 engine that has gone majorly wrong in this truck and it has come to the point where i either get rid of the truck or fit a different engine but i do love the ride the truck offers.

At the end of the day mate, its your choice.

im not saying "DONT do it"

just that as far as engine conversions go... it aint the wisest one.
If you want to go for it, go for it.. if you get any problems you got loads of people here to answer stuff!

yer i get what your saying thanx. I was trying to see what partsfrom the 3 litre will need to move with the engine. Ive seen the pics on the aussie site showing all the dash removed soim guessing looms, engine and ecu.

i think its a 'pretty much everything' type conversion.

the gearbox is controlled from the engine ECU. Dont know how it would take to being messed around.

                      Very involved i think.

ok well i have access to the entire truck, i now have 5 months to remove all parts i would need from it. So i think within 5 months i could get this engine fitted and hopefully working, as previously stated if i hit any snaggs all you wonderful guys and gals are here for advice and knowledge of both engines to help me out. I will do a photo casebook of it all for future reference.

Thanx for all the advice guys, Joe.
