I have 13 row (235 mm long) oil cooler taken from an MGB, it's also the same that was fitted to the mini cooper s as an engine oil cooler. Currently I have it connected in series with the standard oil to water cooler.
The transmission overheating has stopped but I still get engine overheating when towing 1500kg of caravan up hills. I've had a new rad last year with a different oil cooler fitted (much smaller than the nasty big one that blocks the outlet, but still is some blocking of the exit.)
Has anybody fitted a similar oil cooler without the oil to water one, Is it going to big enough to cope with the autobox, or will I need a bigger one?
These coolers are available for about £35 on fleabay, is it worth buying a second one and piping them in series??
