  • Lifts and Snorkels...

    Hi guys and gals,

I need to get about 1/2 inch of lift on the front to clear my tyres on my 3rd Gen, somebody said just turn up the torsion bars BUT I don't have them on mine (mate checked)

I have a guy who said he could lust cut and reweld the mounts easy but others have said it will bugger up the geomatry and cause it to be unstable on-road??
I have tried to look up a compolete bolt on kit for it on the net but can only find one on an aussie site, SO:

can anyone help me I am looking for a 2" supsention - NOT intrested on body lifts. I am not mechanical but have a really good one to use so if anyone can point me in the direction of a kit to buy and if it's needs anything else; info as to what?

am in south surrey (not far from Tonyn) but he seems too busy so is there anyone else who can do a lift if a bolt on kit is not available??

Also Tony if you do read this (or the loverly Linda) what is the chance of you getting (and fitting) a snorkel for me? if it's low then I will speak to somebody about a DIY one but that's not my favoured option - would PM but your box it always full....?

Thanks in avance for any repies...

BUT work have relaxed the rules on what cars we can have in the opt out scheme so I will be looking into selling mine (offers so I can buy my dream Toyota LC amazon!

              Oh COOL!!

That looks like what I need, would I need to have cambers or anything else altered? Also would I need to buy anything else, extended brake lines etc?

              Thanks Guys, looks perfect.

Can't find my shock boots though, will have a proper look later.

Just need TonyN to answer about the Snorkel now, anyone have his number and can text him? I will have to dig out my old mobile, I had Linda's on that.

You dont need to have shock boots on mate.

On Yotatech ive read reports of the boots causing mud/water to stay in increasing the rate of corrosion.... But hey! You didn't hear that from me in case its wrong

Ive got no shock boots on

mountain bikes used to have boots on their front suspension forks but all bikes now dont have them fitted coz they cause early wear
they are a fashion statement to show everyone you have a non standard suspension.
however bikes have a dirt seal that sits on top of the fork leg witch can be lifted up for cleaning, so if you are not intending in cleaning the under side of your surf then i would fit them

Turns out the front have solid boots and the rears where attached to the shocks as Gary at roughtracks had opened the boxes and tied them in place. I had opened the other end and only partly slid them out DUH!

does anyone have a UK link for a Safari Snorkel for the 3rd Gen? I cannot find one apart from one in Aussieland.
