  • Air conditioning recharging.

Hi, I am new to the forum, but it has proved invaluable when looking for my first Surf. It is a 3.0 TD 1993 and is great. I picked it up today and it is superb. After i have serviced it and played around with it to make it my own taste i need to get the air conditioning regassed. Is it just the usual procedure, my mate said something about changing the seals? any ideas will be very welcome.
    Cheers in advance.
    Jason.

    PS any top tips?

Did a car recently...I recommend you go to a reasonably priced garage, most do AC these days and check the system is sealed and intact (no leaks). I emptied a can of halfords re charge into mine before i discovered the slow leak...

a recharge on my soarer costs around £40 - £50 depending on where i take it, but it would certainly be a good idea to have yours checked out for leaks as the seals and o rings may have dried out depending on how long it has been gas less also the drier canister may need changing but these only cost around £25, not to be changed on a charged system.
