  • Late 2nd Gen or early 3rd Gen

I’ve been looking for the right surf for a few weeks now and would like your opinion on this.

There seams quite a price difference between a late 2nd Gen and an early 3rd Gen. I know the differences between the 4WD system and the different 3lt turbo engine, but is the 3rd gen worth paying the extra for or is the 2nd Gen just as good.

Thanks in advance for any help

The engine is the same, unless you get the intercooler version, but still the same engine.

Depends what you want it for, 3rd gen is slightly nicer to live with as a daily driver, bigger inside. 2nd Gen has more used parts and aftermarket stuff available, and a little more 'truck' feeling if that what you're after.

Stock vs stock, very little difference offroad.

Biggest advantage of the 3rd gen is ABS (if you want that sort of thing) and AWD, plus it will be slightly newer.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

I will be using it as a daily drive and off road toy at weekends. The main reason for going back to a 4x4 is to get back into the off road fun.

I will be looking at a 2” suspension and 2” body lift with some bigger tyres on it. So 2nd Gen may be better if more aftermarket parts.
