Yeah, i've got one of those filter removal gizmos too, and they ARE excellent!
ATF in the fuel filter? Yeah, i read about that too..like in the context of not throwing all the old stuff away when doing a change, but filtering it, then using it as a Redex alternative..Yeah, maybe? I understand that some guys add a bit to a tank of fuel every now and then, but on doing the fuel filter change last time round, I went for ....erm...i "think" it was wynns diesel treatment which is specifically for using directly in the fuel filter to give the system a super dooper blast through..Can't say i noticed any difference mind, but i guess it wouldn't have hurt..Ah, i just remembered where i got it.."roughtrax" were selling it, specially for service intervals..Give their website a look.
Who was asking about fuel filter change? Easiest way...Undo the two fuel pipes and disconnect the water sensor that plugs into the inner wing..Unbolt the whole assembly [mounting bracket and all]..Then you can open the tap on the water trap and empty it all into a bucket..Getting the filter off the mount CAN be a pain..Just bolt it back onto the vehicle upside down, then use a oil filter removal tool to undo it..As mentioned, fill your new filter with redex, wynns, or diesel before putting it back together..
