Central locking problem

Hi, i'm new to the forum but thought i would try and ask if anyone has any advice on an intermittent central locking fault on my 1994 KNZ130 SSRX.
Having activated the central locking from the drivers door after a varialbe period of time the locking pops up. I have also heard the central locking going up and down a few times - for no apparent reason (but never when the ignition is on)
Anyone got any ideas as to what causing this and how to rectify ?

check the door lock swtich for any crap in it and also check the wires that go from the door to the door pillar as they are known to break and cause probs
