  • 3.0 cyl head nightmare

    hi everyone.
just thought i.d mention the nigthmare two weeks i.v just had, started with pressure in water system forcing coolant out of overflow in header tank, thinks right, head gasket gone headset inc new bolts takes truck to local diesel whiz he takes head off gaskets seem ok, he pressure tests head all seems ok, so he starts to fit new valve seals etc finds loose valve seat and just behind it was our little friend the crack in the head, more like a kick in the stones. anyway new head off steve, fits head then finds injectors are naff so off they go for overhaul, injectors refitted then starts to refit radiator which of course was nackered, new rad fitted. goes and picks truck up this evening was told that air con pump nackered, anyway £1800thrown at truck up to now strange thing is it has never over heated at anytime. must admit drives even better than it did before then it bl**dy well should. just off now to get a new exhaust and air con pump.
    happy surfing johnno

Mine never got hot but was abused before I got it. RADWELD a bad relationship. Should be banned.

          Aye.......

          they do do that.

Mine was in exactly the same position, had it a year and a half, never abused it, never even got hot, but still cracked the head.

Oh and I agree, radweld should be banned, somebody ought to start a petition!

You've never been hours from a tarmac road, in the middle of nowhere with a branch through the rad?

Radweld saved the day, every toolbox should have some!!

Yeah I know it may have its uses when standed from civilisation but it is used like a spray can and filler by the fraudster and the diy mechanic.

I have been up and down a motorway with clouds of white smoke coming from an engine, stopping at every possible fill up. I stopped at a fire station too but they had no water!

Maybe Radweld should be advertised on the premise of an emergency product and sold in a the shops recovery section with tow straps, beacons and the like.
