3rd Gen T-belt light, cancelling

I am informed that one needs to remove the speedo & rev counter unit to access a scew at the rear of the unit in order to switch off the T-light.
As I am no mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, I would like to know if this is a relatively easy job and if so, is there any info regarding how it is done as I don't want to botch it up or pay some one to do what appears to be a relatively simple job. Thanks.
