  • 3rd Gen gearbox

    Morning gents!

Now i know it's a bit early but i'm after a bit of technical advise.

In my last post i said i'd aquired a juddering, now i was pretty sure it was gonna be the flywheel..well to cut a long story short!!

New clutch ordered...Item received...truck on ramps...gearbox off...bellhousing full of oil grease and muck!!!!

Now stop me if i'm wrong but i was under the impression that the bellhousing was the clean side of the gearbox?

Whould i be right in saying the input shaft seal was letting by?
if so where could i get one? any ideas?

    Cheers!

    colin.

It is when things are ok. You need to determine where the oil is from. Rear Main Seal, Gearbox Seals. or the Flywheel itself. Someone on here once stated the 3Ltr flywheel contained a fluid. Even if the Rear Main and Gearbox seals end up being ok replace them anyway. Cheap insurance.

      Cheers Nev,

Went down to my local Toyota parts counter today and picked the brains of one of their techs, showed him a picture i took of all the muck in the bellhousing and was 100% it was the oil from the flywheel.

Gotta try and source a solid one now!

      Cheers mate!

      Colin.
