Where to buy a head from?

Ok been onto the seller and he says that even a genuine toyota head are all the same and there is not a modified head available. Theses come from malaysia or somewhere which put me off but then how do we know where other heads are made. Awkward to know what way to go now

i believe there is a company down here that makes the modified heads but not certain and i will try to find out.
The seller is full of bull and don't know what he is on about.Speak to Stevo or TonyN and they will tell you.if i can find out over the next few days about this company down here i will post it up

Thanks mate appreciate it. I had a head go on my 3.0 4runner and put a genuine toyota 1 on, never heard of a prob since. Its the one that koi bought and as far as i know its still going strong.

the 2.4 heads that are used are the 2.8ltr 3l head which isnt a modified head as such but Toyota had them put on the last of the 2.4's because of the problem with the original heads so people say that its the modified head thats put on

got a gen toyota head 499.00 & has cost me 60 quid to get the cam etc swapped over just fitting it back together now

I`m learnin still lol, so the modified head was only on the 2.4 and the 3.0 are all the same? if thats the case then would it matter where its got from as long as its new?

Check here, prices usually include cam belt, all gaskits and new stretch bolts

Ok i got some bubbles in my rad so gonna just replace the head i think, seen some sellers on ebay at pretty good prices but wondering where else would be reccommended. Any 1 had any experience of heads from ebay sellers? Don ..

Have you removed the head yet? although it's likley that the head has cracked (it always seems that way) I would still remove the head, normally if they are cracked it is quite obvious, they seem to go the worst between the valves on No4.

If you can do without the motor I would take the head off, you never know it might just be the head gasket.......

silly me. in my rush to save you loads of money I forgot to answer the question!

I got my head of STEVO, think it was £899 all gaskets, bolts & new timing belt, delivery was quick and stevo is a nice guy to deal with.

No not yet but thought even if it aint cracked yet who is to say that it wont after i do the gasket. Really not sure what way to do this now

the problem is you cant tell. some of the unlucky ones (me included) have ended up replacing their heads, some people have had no problem (tonyN is one of them & his motor does some work)

I'm going to put it down to being jinxed

Think i`ll prob just pull the head off and have a look 1st, the guy i spoke to said he can have one down to me next day anyway so not really a prob

Well confirmed it, done the rad cap and cleaned out the top of the rad where it seals now. Started to steam and got pressure in the rad hoses so def head or gasket gone. Think i`m gonna order a head so its a straight swap so i can try and get it done in a day. $$$$$$ thing this is the 2nd 3.0 head thats gone on me now
