  • Misfire at high speed

Have just been told that the cause of my misfire at around 60mph or when the engine is under strain is a fuel fault and that its possibly the injecters
The spray pattern is wrong on at least one injecters.
Can anyone give me more info on this and what can i do, as im told not to remove the injecters myself and mess with them as you need a machine of some sort to(Run them up) Any help please...

How do you know the injector spray pattern is wrong if you haven't removed them?
Or is that the B/S you've been told?

You can hear if an injector is blocked by the 'ticking' noise it makes.
No special equipment needed to remove the injectors, just a deep socket, 22mm I think (sparkplug socket!)

What's the condition of your fuel filter, Clean/new?

      Hi Vince

No.. filter is new changed all of them when i did head
Have a master fitter living opposite me. works for Turners Bridgend. and he seems to think that it is an injector as we have exhausted all other ideas
      EG..pump & timeing set/new injector seals/ 4 cans of forte diesel conditioner/
re-check fuel pump & timeing spot on/ new fuel pipes fitted on injectors...
Cost so far £375.00 Starting to loose it a bit now...

        Oh, OK.

Here's a 'How to' on changing the injectors....

        http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/injectors.htm

It shows the 2LT engine, but yours won't be much different.

It's not really a D.I.Y job cleaning them, they need to go to a fuel injection specialist as they clean them in an ultrasonic bath, then set them up on a test rig.

I suppose you could try soaking them in a container full of redex or petrol and see if any 'gunk' is dislodged.

              misfire under load

this may not be relevant to you but.

i have experianced this kind of problem on a diferent veichle, i never thought it was the injectors though, i went for the EGR valve sucktion pipe and clamped it from operating with a pair of forceps, it solved the problem that the EGR system was malfunctioning and opening the valve and letting to much gas in at the wrong time,

it is a larger job though if the EGR valve is jamed open, because you have to remove it and cut a blank plate from a bear can.

              there are loads of threads.

Would that be a Hoffmeister tin?

                  blank plate

                  no!
                  But because you asked,
it's 'Heineken' that replaces parts that other bear cans cannot make.

                    egr

hey welsh surf, i'm still thinking about your motor and am wondering did you have a look at the egr valve as suggested, i also notice through the threads and posts that you had some problems relating to this in early December, where something got snaped off allong the relating tube work.

i had a look at mine this evening and have noted that if you pull the vacume vane rubber tube from the top of the valve and conect a length of tube to the egr and gently blow or suck, you should be able to feel the valve open and close, if you can blow down it without it closing it is probably jamed open,
