    Yes its me Can someone tell me......the water coming into the rad comes from the TOP hose and is bleeding HOT.
    The water travels through the rad and cools, IT re-enters the block COOL.
    NOW The thermostat opens at a certain degree 82???
    How is this possible if the water going into the block is that cool i can keep my hand on it......

      You're right in theory.

      The 'stat will stay shut till the water leaving the rad is 82 deg, so you'll probaly find it only really opens properly under load, try going for a fast drive, then feel the bottom pipe as soon as you stop, you'll probably feel the hose getting colder as the truck idles and the rad catches up with the cooling.

      Diesels don't make a lot of heat when idling in general, thats why you see taxi's driving around with silver foil over half the grill, to keep them warmed up.
