It does.... now to bore you all to death, i have to park on a steep gradient, approx 1 in 10 and when parked nose downhill, i noticed the engine sounded a bit tappety/noisey for a few minutes ... my guess is that the oil all runs to the front of the sump and the oil pump is having difficulties.

When i park nose uphill.... no problems....

Normally in town when engine warm just over the 1/4 when motorway crusing or when cold can be 1/2. This is her 2nd oil change since i have had her some 6 months... Normally the tappety noise goes after a few min.. guess the oil is cold and with the angle the Surf is parked at the oil pump is having difficultly priming for a few min... at a guess.. did your Surf show any other signs of problems..

            Well....

It shouldn't make much difference to oil pressure in so far as where you park up. However the wrong oil filter will have an effect, double check that yours is the correct type. Lots of engines especially relatively low revving ones will tend to sound 'tappety' this is usually the oil not getting up to the top end of the engine straight away....a quick blip on the throttle should sort that...

Also as the engine components wear there are times when valve and cam follower and shims can sometimes end up in a position where they make a noise and then this goes away once they have relocated (rotated in operation..those that know about engines will understand this phenomenon).

A light tapping sound should not cause ant problem unless of course the valve clearances need adjusting (shimming). The best solution is to get some one who knows engines well to have a listen to put your mind at rest...hopefully
