Turbo Warning Light...

..in the middle of the odemeter (is that right?) keeps flicking on and off. Sometimes stays for a while, sometimes goes quickly even at non-turbo revs (below 2500 or even 2000). Now. methinks it's some sort of turbo sensor on it's way out,can anyone clue me in at all as to what might be going and what I need to replace?

I didn't think the 3 litre had a turbo light..

It's the check engine light, and you need to do the paperclip test to quiz the diagnostics..

yes it does - in middle of tachometer
but i believe it only comes on when there is a fault

Exactly. It's not a turbo light. It's a "something's wrong and you need to check it" light.

My manual (94' 4Runner 3.0TD) definately says "Turbocharger warning light".

Now it also says " This light warns that the boost pressure in the Turbicharger system is abnormally high.

If it comes on whilst driving, slow down until the light goes out, and have it checked by your Toyota dealer asap."

But it comes on and off quite regularly primarily when I am still at low revs (anything from 1000 - 2000 rpm). I don't trust Toyota EA but I trust you lot...says alot for Toyota EA doesn't it!

It's a boost warning light. If it's coming on at low RPMs then it's probably warning you of low boost pressure. Check all the little vacuum pipes around the throttle body and at the pressure sensor solenoids that are fixed to the inner wing in the engine bay.
