That is a 3.0 engine in a uk 4runner - the turbo is mounted low on the left - the 2.4 is mounted much higher, so close to the brake servo it has to have a s/s heat shield.
Cool! Yeah, i just noticed the difference looking at the intercooler install page on the aussy forum.
Guess now i just need to know what type of 3.0 it is? 1KZT or 1KZT-E?

Not quite, they both have a ECU, and lots of electronics, but the 'E' engine has an electroniclly controlled fuel pump, the UK engine has a mechanical fuel pump, fuel delivery is controlled by the throttle cable, on the Surf motor its more 'fly-by-wire' the throttle cable only goes to the airflap on the intake, then the ECU works out how much fuel it needs by various sensors.
If you doing an engine swap the 1KZ/T is less likely to give you electrical head aches than the 1KZ/TE.
