  • Quick question - Battery

Just had a phone call from my wife saying my battery is dead on the Surf which is strange 'cos I drove it yesterday and it was fine. However if I take the benefit of the doubt and it is flat, which battery is for starting? As I stand at the front and look towards the truck is it the left one or the right one? Assuming it is flat I'll need to get some charge into it tonight when I get home from work, as it's booked in to get the wheel bearings and bronze hub bushes done tomorrow and I leave the hosue at 6am - Typical!

She let me listen as she turned the key and it did indeed sound flat - no idea why.

    Argh!

usually both batteries are wired in parallel - so they both contribute to starting

ONLY ONE OFF THE BATTERIES MAY BE KNACKERED, AND IS 'PULLING' THE OTHER ONE DOWN.

          p.s. sorry for shouting!

Ok, so is there a quick test to determine if this is the case? I imagine that if both batteries are flat then both will have to be charged and the knackered one will still show as low?????

I don't think it's gonna make it to the garage tomorrow is it? !!@**!X

Charge them up to night, and you should be able to start o.k in the morning. I have two batteries, but my truck can be started using just one of them, and they're still the original batteries!!
Before you take them off though, check the tightness of the earth clamps on the batteries, 'cos if they aint tight, the battery/ies will appear to be flat..
