my mates got a 3.0lt non turbo 88 surf pickup and its smoking when you rev it after its idled for a few seconds rev it and it clears. To me it looks like too much fuel running through injectors or pump problem. New filters been fitted a week ago didnt get any better any other suggestions would be helpful , it doesnt miss a beat either and plenty of power, is actually a rare surf.

The injectors may be gummed up and not spraying properly. Try some Redex fuel injector cleaner in the tank, or pour it into the fuel filter.

They could also be dribbling - sometimes the seats get worn and fuel can leak past the seat resulting in too much fuel in the combustion chamber if redex dosent cure it they may need a rebuild
