  • Overheating When Towing

    Hi

I have had my Surf 2 years with no real problems. I have however just started to tow a 20 foot caravan. On the first trip all OK untill a long hill then the temp started to raise. Once up the hill all OK. I did feel that the engine was not getting all the power to the weels. Changed the gearbox oil including pumping through the oil cooler and torque convertor. Whent from Scarborough to Lincoln went perfect on the motorway I could hardly fel the caravan at 60 mph. On the return trip all OK untill I stopped for fuel then on even small hills the temp went up. Going over the Humber Bridge it crept higher towards the red. After that it got hot on every hill. Stoped south of Bridlington for a break and all seemed well again. Temp went up on long hills but only a couple of needle widths.

I plan to fit a second oil cooler in series with the rad one

    ANY TIPS

There are lots of threads on this. Do a search on oil cooler or atf cooler.

Looks Like Its The Fan What Fan Will Fit?

Looks like it is the fan tried the rolled up newspaper test and the fan easily stopped. Unsure as to how loose to roll the newspaper but even loose it soon stopped. Just to work out what fan to fit from the s$$$$ yard or do I buy new?.
