Grease gun question ?

hi, what size nib do i need for my grease gun to grease the prop shaft ? as the usual one that is on my gun seems to be to small !

Hi,

You need a grease gun with at least an 18mm nib to fit the nipples on the propshaft.

Remember to do the ball joints as well which you will need to fit nipples to in order to grease them.

I think it is a size of the nipples referred to as "M6" which I guess means Metric.

You will need nipples at right angles as well so make sure they are at 90 degrees.

In short, you need grease nipples size M6 and at right angles to be able to do the ball joints etc.

or you could buy one and fit them as you grease and put the caps back in.

I went to two local and very good motor factors today and neither of them had or have heard of an m6 size grease nipple or m6 size grease nipple adaptor for the grease gun ! i will try 1 more motor factors in the morning and see what they have, if all else fails i will take it into work and give it to the fitters to sort as i think they have bigger adapters to grease the caterpillar trucks .

is your nib not adjustable.....I have a gun with and adjustabl one - basically acts like a drill...one way tightens up the other opens up

not that im aware of, i just have the standard fitment, ill see what the fitters at work say

the fitters couldn't help me they only have the standard fitment , i also went to another motor factors that didnt have any ! where can i get the correct right angled nipples for the ball joints and the correct grease gun adaptor ?? anybody ?

i have just phoned up a toyota dealer and they were no help at all ! they didn't even know that there are grease nipples on the prop shaft ! UNBELEIVABLE

the nipple is just a standard size.

I found i had to give my gun a good shove on to get them over nipples but I managed it.
Just a standard grease gun.

i used a standard well used grease gun today at work and it fitted no probs, the culprit was the brand new adaptors jaws are seized shut ! and i thought it was the wrong size !
