does the 3.0 td have heater plugs ? i guess so , BUT mine starts with the first turn of the key , like modern day instant start diesels.
Not seen these "instant start" diesels. can you cite an example of such an engine? My repmobile is pretty new but still waits to start the engine after I push the button. I am interested to know more.

my saab has unit injectors and no sign of a heater plug anywhere
oh yes and its 420+ bhp as well
starts first crack no problem
at the end of the day................ it gets dark
I think so..... My 93 was 340BHP on the Rolling road and that was a well modded bit of kit. went like the clappers as well. I don't think a Diesel GM is gunna give out 420 BHP.Unless its pushing a big chevvy 8

my experience with diesels is limited , my understanding of them was to sit until a said glow plug light goes out , then crank the engine .What i'm saying is my surf starts like a petrol motor , no waiting at all , not even on a cold morning .Sorry i can't cite an engine for you , maybe i speak of ' direct injection ' if that's the term they use .
sorry ive missed so many answers to threads its unbelievable!!
it is a 44 tonner
and yes it is a scania
and yes saab stands for scania automotive a b or i could be wrong

SAAB = Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget (Swedish Aeroplane Ltd.)
"Scania" = Skåne = province in Southern Sweden.
SAAB bought/merged with Scania-Vabis a few decades ago, but when GM bought SAAB, they only bought the car part of the business.
Scania, the aircraft division and the weapons division were not part of the deal.

I have to agree my 3rd Gen starts just the same turn the key coil light goes out straight away only seen it before on a Challenger the slower the light indicated Glow-plug faults (according to the Mitsi garage)
