  • Does my Aircon need more Gas?

I have finally got my heater working, It was the little thermistor thing after all. Only now my aircon does not work. When I press the button, it doesn't latch in. The light stays on and compressor runs until you take your finger off and then it stops? Is this a sign of new gas needed or does it sound more terminal??

    Thanks

That's the sign of a knackered button, mine is the same. The latch on the button is purely mechanical, so even if there was a problem elsewhere in the system the button (if undamaged) would still latch in.

I broke mine fitting my blue LED's

Stick a bit of paper/foil in the side to keep it latched in, mine is now jammed on permanently with a piece of foil.

Sods law, I guess my HVAC is destined never to work properly!!

Thanks for the advice, at least I have saved the money on gas!

Looks like a bit of folded card for the time being !!

P.s It does get cool when button held in so I think you are right.

Have you thought about a replacement cover for the switch.

If you pop to your local s$$$$py and have a look for and late mk1 or early mk2 MR2 or an early Yaris, the button facia's are the same.

I got some new ones for the heater directions and they cost 50p each. Bit fiddly to fit though but if you go careful you should be alright

          hope this helps
