  • Timing Belt Cost

    Hi Guys

What would be a resonable cost for having the timing belt replaced ?

I have just been asked for £200 which seems a bit steep to me.

It's about 2 to 3 hours work and the belt is less than £20 I seem to remember. Depending on labour rates anything between 100 notes and 200 is about right.

Shouldn't take any more than an hour to do on a 3.0 ltr.

Hmm It is a 3 ltr and I got charged 4 hours and he said it was a bugger of a job. I guess I won't be going back there again.

        Thanks for the reply.

Yeah sorry I was thinking 2.4 there. 3.0 is a doddle and should take between 40 mins and 1 hour. I did my Landcruiser one (roughly the same as the 3.0) in about 30 minutes. Hardest bit is compressing the tensioner which is easy if you have a vice.

4 hours is way over the top but I guess that's not what you want to hear.

Cheers and better luck next time.

                  I'd do a 3.0 T/belt for £50 plus the belt.
