hope this helps for future quote's
    Hi,
Thanks for that Yes, adrian flux is a broker (kings lynn) long established, actual insurer highway - brentwood....Reason I was p****d off with LV was because I was insured with them for 5 years thro CSMA, also CWS insurance would only quote for imported vehicle IF already insured with them..ie transfer from one car to another...Sorry you having to pay so much, we're now down to one car (to give all you others more room on roads ) and are not in first flush of youth so £250 is about it ( less than 12K miles per annum, long ncd, very rural location etc )

am paying £400 with LV but my previous insurance 'esure' would'nt give me a quote because it was an import.

and for everybody else out there who does'nt now about this if you put your wife or husband on your insurance weather they have a full licence or not your insurance goes down so it is worth getting them a provisional licence if not already got one. double check with your insurance first though. thats what me and my wife do. i am on hers and she is on mine we save in the regen of £300 a year by doing this also you are fully comp when driving each others cars and not 3rd party.

I just changed my insurance over from my little Vitara with Direct Line. There was no problem with it being an import but they said it had to have an immobilizer fitted. The fully comp insurance just went up £14, which I thought was pretty good.

Can't really comment about the difference between 2.4 and 3.0L as I've only had mine a couple of days . . the 3.0L is wonderful to drive
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

Just an observation, have others had quote from LV ?

          Peter

Yep, well nearly! What a bunch of to**ers.
          Asked me for vehicle -
Toyota Hilux Surf 3.0 TD 1996
          She then asked for capacity
          told her 2997.
But you just said 3.0 she replied
Thats the model I said, actual capacity is 2997
I,m sorry but you told me 3.0 and anyway we do not have a 2997cc on our system

This went on for a while longer with me trying to explain the difference. Finally I said "O.K lets say the capacity is 3.0"
If you tell me 3.0 and have a claim then your cover will be void as its actually 2997

I'm now starting to lose the will to live.
I finally told her that using that logic, all those surfs insured as 3.0 will have void cover as the actual capacity is less.

she lost the plot at this point and I gave up!!

Went to A-Plus who gave fully comp/european breakdown and recovery/legal assistance for £415. This is £150 cheaper than my renewal. Very pleasant service too

A rather vague question but one that should have an easy answer.

If I have a 93 SSRX Diesel, what engine size will it be?

(Car was a loan for the winter months to keep my wife and our soon to be born little one safe)

            Thanks!

Hard to tell, that was the first year of the 3.0, but late regestered 2.4's may be around.

All 3.0's have a 3.0 badge on the tailgate as well as the spec (SSR, etc), 2.4's only have the spec badge.

Also the data plate in the engine compartment will say 2LT/E for the 2.4, or 1KZ-TE for the 3.0.

I have a 1996 3l and all it has on the rear is SSR-V.

Got insured with N.U. at the second attempt, the first guy I spoke to said no imports. Next day got insured for £247 for 14 months that made me " HAPPY"
That includes foreign travel, but only for one year, could not get any answer to that, that made sense.
