  • brake squeal noise

    on my surf when i brake as you come to a halt i am getting a sqealing noise which gos when you stop it seems hydrylic and nothing to do with pads its not very loud any ideas and dont sugest turning up radio

    probably the wear indicators... they touch the disk when the pads get low.

    or is it coming from the back?

      The radio always works for me. In fact it's usually when I drive without the radio on, for a change, that I notice things like that.

      Sounds like you've already discounted this, but the first thing that came to my mind was the wear indicators on the pads (little metal jobbies that touch the surface of the disk when the pad is ready for replacing - I been tought by Tony!!! ). If it sounds metalic, it could be them.

        might also require copper slip or something like that on the back of the pads [outer face] to stop any shims etc rubbing.
