Buying advice for 3.0 td newby

I am looking for a 3.0 td, as I am new to the Surf world I figured you would be the best to ask..
What should I be looking for with the vehicle?
Are there any particularly troublesome areas to investigate in more detail?
What are the different model designations eg ssr5 ssrx etc?
Are the 3.0 tds prone to any particular problems, as I understand the 2.4 td has a tendancy to overheat?

If you buy from a dealer it would be an idea to check him out on here too. You cant beat actual experiences.

As for the 3.0 they are not prone to the 2.4's overheating but will still break if the coolant system has not been looked after. Check the coolant colour and the state of the radiator before you buy. Try and get a warranty that covers the head for any incident including failure caused by loss of coolant (hard but worth a try)
