  • Low Idle Revs and sticky Clutch

    1. My surf is idling at about 600rpm and is nearly stalling how do i alter the idle revs?
    2. The clutch pedal sometimes sticks down when i am using it alot ie round town. Is this a problem and if so how can i fix it?

It just hasn't felt right after the deer incident and would like to help it get better.

That sounds like your master cylinder's inner seals are shot and the only way to renew this is to fit a new master cylinder. Alternatively it could be the slave cylinder (just outside the gearbox) which is leaking fluid backwards due to worn seals. You could try the slave first as a new one is £10 and a new master cylinder is £55 from www.milneroffroad.com .

DO you have the EFI version of the 2.4 (Look on the engine details if it is a 2LT then it is not EFI if it says 2LTE then it is), if you have then the idle is carried out by the ECU. Diesels can run extremely low idle and as said 600 to 750rpm is about the norm. Turn your lights on on tickover and if it doesnt stall then you shouldnt have a problem.
If it is efi and it is still a bit rough then you could put some redex in it and go boot it up a motorway for a few miles to clean the injectors out.

Check that the mats aren't keeping the pedal stuck, my rubber mats used to ride forward and trap the pedals - a bit cheaper that master cylinder bits!.

If you havent already done so, might be worth getting underneath and making sure there arent any bits of deer (Or anything else) trapped anywhere!
