  • Ok Another problem

Right I took four of the lads ( big blokes) And 4 sets of golf clubs down the duel carriage way today. Now at low speeds everything is sweet but when i go above 100 kph I can feel a vibration through the steering wheel .It feels like something is tightening up.Then when i brake i get some serious wheel wobble and it feels like the discs have lumps in them.

Is this likely to be warped discs or bearings?????? I didnt want to have to change both.

    Thanks for any replies

    Mike

I get this to some extent and my bearings have been done recently so I would guestimate the discs are slightly out.

There surely cannot be much more for you to replace on this car!?!?!

    Hope you get it sorted.

Come on Mike - admit it, you are just trying to get a "brand new" 2nd Gen aren't you ?

Seriously though, hope you have dealt with all the bugs now.

It definatly feels like iv been under the beast more than in it lately. But its another fun part of owning a surf.

Its not really had a lot of problems its just im not going to take any chances with it. Springs and shocks were a must / all supsension Balljoints were a precaution ,but i noticed a hell of a difference after i had done them.
And the rest is because i had too much time on my hands with a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket

Anyway I seem to think looking at these threads that its par for the course!!!!

The other thing that will cause these symptons is a jamed front brake piston. Before you go to the trouble (and expense) of replacing discs- drop the front calipers off to see if the pistons can be depressed (as if you were changing the pads). If you've got a seized one then you'll get 'wobble'.

actually i think that could be 'what i got'. when i brake hard and stop then pull away I can feel it unsticking... another job for my list.
Still at least my air horns are working again the post salisbury wash killed the relay.
