sump removal

has anyone taken the sump off a 3 liter forerunner/surf without taking out the engine ?
ive done it on a 2.4turbo but not on a 3L

It can be done, although I haven't done it myself. Toyota dealer in Coventry had to do it for me once when the new dipstick they supplied broke and left 2 inches of steel rattling around my sump. Wasn't a cheap job though...

did you have any major probs with the 2.4td mine has a 4" body lift so it should daft question what is that rad underneath for?

took it off no problems
the little rad? i presume your talking about the oil cooler???,is your surf automatic?
took off the 3 liter aswell no problem (94 4runner)

Little rad is aircon rad

its not a little rad its almost the same size as the cooling rad?

If it lays either behind sump guard or next to radiator its aircon rad.
Oil cooler not fitted as standard to surfs

Its the aircon rad, and is gonna a major PITA if you want to get the sump off.

Just need to bite the bullet and have the aircon discharged and recharged when you have finished the engine. Only 2 pipes and 4 bolts to take the thing off then unplug two plugs and a small diameter pipe that just pulls off.

Some AIRCON RADS are fitted in front of your main Radiator.
