  • Servicing parts...

Right then, I'm gonna give my 3ltr, 2nd gen Smurf a service next. As I don't know when the last service was, what do you suggest? (I don't have that much money!)

I'm thinking all the belts incl timing,
    Engine oil and filter,
    G/box oil?
    Fuel filter,
    Air filter.

Anyone think of anything else? Are Milners the best people for all the parts?

    Many thanks....

You have just about got the lot apart from a good grease round. The attachment is a list of grease points. If you still have the Toyota bottom ball joints you will find 2 6mm plugs in place of the required grease nipples. You will need to change them for 6mm either 45 or 90 degree nipples. There are lots of posts on the Forum that lists the service schedule for the Surf. If your Surf has been off road a lot the grease points are about the most important otherwise the ball joints and steering linkage suffers from ingress of mud/water.
If you have the time it would be worth checking the tailgate window motor and mechanism is clean and greased as if neglected it can fail. The Url below is a really good guide on how to do it.

Milners are usually the cheapest source of bits - they usually do both a service filter and belt kit and saves a bit of money over buying the items individually.

After my recent experience with hot front disks- I'd be inclined to renew all the brake fluid too. Bleed out all four corners to flush the cr*p out the pistons. Ten minutes well spent.

Dip your finger in the front and rear diffs too to see if they need top up/change.
