Method A: look for sticker on Diff saying LSD

Method B: search on forum for how to read axle codes to reveal info from your data plate

Method C: Jack up back axle and turn one wheel by hand. If other wheel turns in same direction it's an lsd, if it goes in the opposite direction it's an open diff.

I always thought the 'limited' on newer trucks was for the limited, but not sure now, as Linda's axle code ends with a 4 not 5, and the wheels turn like an open diff.

My point exactly. It don't matter what it says on the vin plate if the friction discs are in the bottom of the diff pan

I have the same scenario....trying to deduce without opening up whether to put LSD or normal diff oil. Remember sticker on diff but had no writing on it..had wheels up on jack stands and turned the wheels and they went opposited way and vin plate ends in 4
