  • Sick 3.0ltr Surf(short story)

While driving up a small hill(2*4) recently, I lost all clutch in my beloved Surf. There was a distinct whirring noise...with a few crackely bits thrown in.
I made it to the side of the street, and after 10 mins, re-started, and drove it the mile home....all seemed fine. Next day, the mechanic could not find anything wrong. Since, I've noticed a real loss of power at the top of the gear change.
Ive recently had it serviced....air, oil, and fuel filter change, and a general lube job, was all that was done. Anyone got any ideas???? I wants me power back!!!

how low was the fuel at the time? and how much of a hill?

i thought i had killed mine today when it was cutting out on a few hills round here but it was just low tank + dirt in tank so it could be that,

was it clutch you lost or did the eng cut out as if low on fuel and the plastic manual pump on the fuel filter lose?

If you mean it lost all drive, this happened to me a long while back in an MG Metro (not much difference), anyway it was a very serious gearbox problem, the whole unit was a write off, even the case was wrecked. Thats probably not what you wanted to hear though is it!
Parts of your engine go up, stop then go back! Mm!
