  • 3.0 Gen3 fettle

Have posted this is 'New Users' section but didn't get any responses so thought I'd try here.
Recently took ownership of a gen3 3.0 surf. Pretty damn happy with the thing as it is but would like to give it the best chance I can for it to stay healthy.
Top of the list is EGR bypass/blanking and then trans cooling + gauges as I will be doing some heavy towing.

With the EGR this thread seemed to cover the process well: http://hiluxsurf.co.uk/forum/hilux-s...gr-valve/page2
NiftyNev explains nicely the T-junction trick with a handy photo but is this done alongside blanking plates either side of the egr? And do the instructions apply to a gen3 3.0 also?

As for the trans cooling, I'll be keeping the standard rad with internal trans cooler and installing an additional trans cooling before it....at least that seems the general consensus.
Couple of q's regarding all that:
    1. What I.D. is the hose for the trans cooler and engine coolant (want to install a gauge there also)?
    2. Will these gismos work for installing inline temp sensors for both coolant and trans oil? I ask because unsure of suitability and whether they might restrict the flow?

    3. Sorry that's a couple meaning 3 q's! Finally is it worth thinking about an EGT sensor also or overkill?

    Many thanks yall

I really wish there were responses here. I am also a recent owner of a 3rd gen and want all of the same things!

The forum has really dropped off in the latest years, Facebook groups have killed all the good forums. There's a few surf groups online like https://www.facebook.com/groups/1412...742/?ref=share

I hate to advise going there but it's so quiet here...
