4x4 box trouble

i cant select 2wd,lights on dash are flashing as though its changing to 2wd but it does not disengauge 4wd.Might anyone know what the problem is,i think its more the electrical side of things.96 3.0 ssrx at :

I'd start by checking out the vacuum pipe system. A lot of 4wd troubles stem from leaks, splits blockages etc. in there.

Have you tried rocking the car back and forth in and out of reverse?

tried that and the vacum seems to be fine.any other ideas? thanks ozzie

Engine running main gearbox in neutral ?? Try it in low box as well then go back into high, Also reverse for about 10 metres.
