  • Head change update

Hi All.... The head change went ok, it did take a bit of time, but had it running today for the first time, it does seem to be a bit louder on diesel knock on tick over, and is quieter when revved, thought it would have been the opposite way round.
I have also got a problem with the turbo light, it comes on with the ignition but when running the light is not coming on when revved, I have not driven it on the road as yet, will do that tomorrow, at work now so could not take it out for a spin, I did rev it high enough in park, so it should have come on.
I have double checked all the vac hoses, but will treble check tomorrow.
has anyone else had these probs after head change, also any tricks to get air out of water system, done all the usual squeezing hoses, running engine with cap off and revving it, but rear heater is a bit reluctant to blow hot all the time. thanks lads....

I believe the engine has to be under load,(driving) for the turbo light to come on.
Did you put both heater controls in the hot position when you refilled with coolant?

        update

Yes the back and front heaters were both on hot, I'm hoping the turbo light will come on when under load, thought once when in traffic, that when in park and revved it, the light came on, I may be mistaken, !!!!!! hope so, I will let you know tomorrow.

            head change

I all... When I drove the car under load on the road, the turbo light came on ok, quite relieved about that, since the head change, the top end of the engine does have a more noticable combustion knock, perhaps now it has a new cam belt, the timing is more correct, it is only noticable on tick over, as soon as you raise the revs it goes, sure I have read this before on the group.
I took her out for the first time today and seems to run really well, there does seem a slight increase in power, but I have been driving a citroen AX 998cc for the last week, even a push bike is gonna seem faster LOL
