2wd not engaging

  • 2wd not engaging

    used 4wd last night to get up a loose graveled slope got it back into 2wd drove home, today my surf dosnt seem to want to go anywhere in 2wd but it moves around in 4wd also the o/d light seems to start flashing after awhile but turning the ignition off and back on stops it for some...
    help

    tried reversing to disengage the transmission bits n bobs?

      yeah when stick it back to to 2wd (so the 4wd light is off) it just goes no where...it also makes a grinding noise when u try sticking it in park (dosnt when u do it in 4wd though)

              Are you sure its not in Neutral on the 4wd stick, try moving it another click.

                Ensure your in Neutral on your normal gear changer first.

                  i assume that if in neutral on 4wd gearstick auto lever is in 2wd?

                    4wd stick should be in H position for normal 2wd select neutral with normal gear shift then move 4wd H-L lever into H default is 2WD unless you press the button.
                    L position is permanent 4WD

                      Neutral on the 4wd stick is another neutral to the one on the gearbox, Auto or manual it dosn't matter, you won't go anywhere, not matter what you do with normal gearstick.

                      They work independantly from each other. Some systems don't have a N on the 4wd shifter, just L and H and the 4wd button on the side, so it desn't coyuld for them. But you can get the lever not engauged between the two, and get no drive still.
