    could anyone tell me the type of oil needed and the capacities for the the diff's on a '92 2.4 surf.i have had a quick search and couldnt find anything on the forums so im not being lazy !

    EP 80 or 90 will do the job, if you are going to drain and refill you will probably need about 1 litre for each I think.

    Can anyone else remember the exact capacity.

        The "general servicing info" in this very forum advises 1.9L in the rear diff and 2.2L in the front diff.

        I haven't done my front yet, but I did the rear, and rather than measure what I put in, I just filled it till it started to ooze back out the filler hole.

        I had read somewhere that the LEVEL needs to be within 5mm of the bottom of the filler hole. I presume this was with the car on level ground.

        I have fitted an extended breather on mine with a new union which has a bore of 4 or 5mm, so if there's too much in there, it'll blow out with the little bit of pressure in the casing. There's no oil stains on the clear breather hose, so I'm deducing (not assuming) that oil isn't blowing out.
