  • Snapped Belts?

    Hi All,

On my way home today my steering went very heavy. I drove home about 6 miles and when I popped the bonnet I noticed the 2 big belts had snapped.
1 small belt had just come off and one was still attached.

As I drove 6 miles is there anything else that could have gone wrong?

    Thanks

As long as the engine is still running OK and didn't overheat - I presume the fanbelt was still OK - then no there isn't really anything that could be a problem unless one of the belts whipped round and damaged something - like the rad. If there is no puddle of water, no overheating, no horrible noises, then I think you should be OK.

    Cheers

      Thanks, Thats a relief.

The engine is still running fine and temperature gauge did not go above half way.

I would recommend the changing of all the belts . If one has broken then the others are probably the same age and going to fail soon . Plus you do not want to have to do the same job again to change another belt .
