2.8 Hilux screeching in low gear, clutch?

Hi All

Looking to try diagnose a problem with my 2.8 LN106 hilux. When it's under really heavy load theres a loud shuddering noise coming from near the engine. It's happened twice to me. First when towing a boat up a steepish hill in low gear and second when in low 4x4 going up a reasonably steep bank. It makes a screeching sort of sound when engine under a lot of load. In first and second gear it does give a judder when you"ve depressed the clutch and put foot down on normal road conditions like the clutch nit quite engaged.

Im thinking possibly the clutch or pressure plate is worn.

Hi, Generally the way to check if ya clutch is failing/faulty ....
Handbrake applied start the Truck select 4th gear n try n pull away as normal, if ya Truck is trying to stall/cuts out ya clutch sounds fine but the squealing could be ya thrust race bearing.
If on the other hand ya clutch slips/is slipping there could be problems with the Clutch or the assembly..
