  • A bit of help regarding a heating/ventilation issue

I have hit a small imagination block, i am fitting a webasto heater in order to heat the cabin overnight with the engine off , i will link it to the cars heating system, now the problem is how to make the ventilation to work without having the ignition on
Maybe somebody knows a quicher way on how to do this
    Thanks!

you could wire it through a permanent live if you have one or, just wire it directly to the battery with an inline fuse

Hang on though, I may have misread the question. Thought you were looking for help with connecting the heater to the electrics, not getting the ventilation to work.
For that, you'll need some sort of override switch / system. Try looking on the Aussie hilux forum, someone there might have done similar.

      Heating/Blower independent system!

An easier way would be to use a system like they use in colder parts of US and Canada. It has a heater in the coolant system plugged into the mains connected by a waterproof plug/socket you just unplug in the morning. When we were in Canada the blower was pushing hot air out within 30 seconds of starting the car. Easier and much more simple than loads of wiring/plumbing and no flat batteries in the morning!

Problem solved , will get a new switch connected straight from the battery to vent from the same switch I will conect the heater
        Thanks for the replay

I did this to my truck

The heater goes to positive earth with the ignition off IIRC.

The webasto heater will switch the fan ob. Youll need to replace the surfs wiring to the fan with a wire from the battery via a relay, to get the web to switch it on.

the wire you add will be the new feed for the fam so needs to be a sizeable wire.
You will need to plumb the vehichles wiring in conjuction with it to make it work when the ignition is on.

Fitting a webasto was the best thing i ever did. I have a module so i can text it to start. If we have a very severe frost ill text it during the night to come on and bring the temp up for 15 mins.

Ive run mine for several hours without any battery issues. I also fitted its own tank and run it on kerosene.

Only by a webasto thermo top c...

Do a lot of testing as i recall there being a complicated issue regarding positive earth when the truck ignitiom was off. But the solution was simple.

Engine bay? Put it underneath. Just behind where the torsion bar for the front suspension on the nearside is. Theres a webasto sized gap.
