Auto box problems?

A mate of mine has a Hilux pick up, don't know what model or engine BUT during a recent telephone conversation he said he'd avoided buying an auto because of a "common problem" with them. Mine seems fine..... anybody out there know what he's taslking about????

Nah, the only trouble with Auto pickups is you can't find any. There is no major problems with Surf slushboxes, the only thing I've ever read about is in the US, and people moaning that they don't last over 250,000 miles. Which is not problem in my humble opinion.
