Engine cuts out on low revs

Can someone point me in the right direction, my 2.4 TD Surf SSRX is playing up. On approaching roundabouts, corners, in slow moving traffic or when idling, it judders, splutters, and runs very roughly with black smoke from the exhaust then cuts out. Please can anyone help?

First up I'd change the fuel filter and check the air filter. Then check the intake tubes for oil and splits, then look for loose vacuum hoses and toss a can of Redex in the fuel tank.

Sounds like it just won't tick over happily.

try the above but could be a stuck EGR, gives same symptons.
