  • No batt/oil light when IGN on?

    Hey folks.

Just been out in my 2.4 surf for the first time in about a month. Started 1st turn of the key, and had all the usual lights on the dash. Whisked it round to the garage to put some diesel in.

Decided to check the tyre pressures too, so moved it from the pumps to the air machine thingy....noticed I had no oil or batt light when I started it, but heyho...it's too cold to look at now.

Left the engine running whilst doing the tyres, and while I'm doing the OSF, I notice what smells like an electrical burning smell, so I quickly shut it off. Popped the bonnet and had a quick poke around (albeit in the dark), and all the alternator wires appear to be fine. Started it again and drove home with no other problems or smells, other than the lack of ignition lights.

Anyone had this before, or have any suggestions?

    Hi DMA,

My 2.4 does not have oil and battery lights,
it has an oil pressure gauge and battery meter.

    Gman.
If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

Thanks Gman, mine too, but there are definitely less lights than normal, and it should have a battery light at least.

possible just a wire off the oil pressure sender.should be located near to the oil filter...single wire connection normally

Curiously last night, the speedo also stopped working.

Went out to it this morning and everything seems to be fine again. Ignition lights and all! I can only imagine it must have gotten damp or something after sitting for a month.

              Problem resolved
