  • Oil Leak and stuff ....HELP

    Hi,

    I'm a new surfer, bought a K reg 2.4TD m (85000km) a week and a half ago from a dealership who imports them.

Had no problems with car at 1st, had problems with dealer, he didn't have car serviced or valet'd as per our agreement but I got so mucked around that I decided just to go get the car and knock a little off for stuff not done.

Took car down to Brighton the 2nd weekend I had it, went well, no problems, drove home, dropped bags off to go shopping, when went outside I noticed oil dripping under car/engine. Checked oil level which was low, parked car and left.

Called dealer on the Monday, explained problem, he said to top up oil and drive it back down to him to have a look. When I got down there, typically the car decided to stop leaking oil (maybe a few drops but did spill a bit when filling it up), had a big fight with dealer as he thought I was making it up etc., went to his mechanic who couldn't find leak but he agreed that from what he could see, oil had been leaking. He told me to go get engine jet washed, drive for a few miles and return. It was getitng late, had to get back to office to lock up and London traffic was starting to build up so decided to knock it on head. When I got back hom that evening I check status again and it doesnt seem to be leaking oil anymore.

Does anyone have any idea's ? Has this happened to anyone ? Do I have any consumer rights with regards to this as the dealer made it clear that if the extra warranty I took out didnt cover the leak then he is not covering it either. Surely after having the car for a week he has to sort the problem out (if there is one) ...

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Nick

100% sure that it's oil. I have owned a few cars and motorbikes in my time so not a newby to engines etc.
