Maybe this might help some people worrying about mpg?

I've been getting an average of 18mpg from my 2.4L LN130 surf - automatic, ever since I bought it in July.

I have tried various things to improve this including changing all the filters. My nephew used to work for (dare I say it?)... a landrover garage and gave me the name of a good landrover fuel injection specialist who would check the timing and clean the injectors etc.

I've just returned from visiting my grandparents in County Durham, a trip of 310 Miles (500Km) for me. All the way I got 28mpg. That's at between 65 and 70 mph most of the time, and being stuck at less than 30mph for about 2 hours.

On the way back I put injector cleaner in it and got 24mpg, then when I filled up when it was on a half tank in the services, from then on I seem to have got more than 28mpg (from a known approximate fuel gauge position and km covered).

I only live 4 miles from work and as such go home for lunch. That's 4 short trips a day. I hope that I am right in thinking that my poor economy is down to nothing more than short trips?

Hope this helps some other people, I know that I have been very worried that I have something seriously wrong with my engine. As long as I know that there is nothing wrong, I am happy to pay the fuel bill to own my Surf!
