Hi. I’m rebuilding the head after cowboy Joe has been in there. I thought I’d rebuild the injectors with new nozzles, and change the bits over like for like. Now I’ve discovered that he put the crush washers above the leak off union (and that’s why the injectors were leaking), I’m uncertain how it should all go back together. I’ve been through all the related threads about the diesel injectors and I’m still confused.
1. The heat shield washer. Does this go inside the injector at the base of the nozzle? The copper washer sits at the base of the injector.
2. The Ellery manual talks about shims inside the injector to set the spring compression, and hence the injection pressure. There were none inside my injectors. Without these shims, will my injectors release too much diesel?
3. Please confirm that the crush washers do go between the shoulder of the injector and the leak off union.
4. Should I just have bought the full injector instead?
Any words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated.
