Yes - if you remove the motor and lever the rod towards the front of truck it puts it in 4wd. To fit new motor connect it to loom and push the 4wd button. Motor will move to correct position then bolt motor to trans case.
Hmmm
Will give that a try.
So if I push the selector button with the top gear off, that will move the motor and the contact disk into the correct position.
Then if I push the selector rod in so that the plunger switch is made I can then put the top gear back on and then it will be set correct?
I really hope this will sort it.
Starting to get a tad annoying I have had the transfer case off about 4 frickin times now.
I have even started looking at Land Rovers........
If the tides out tomorrow I might have another crack at it before I go "off".
If you unbolt the motor and remove from trans case does it turn one way to a stop point with the 4wd button in, and back the other way to a stop point with the button out ? ( we tested with engine running)
If yes, does your 4WD light come on and go off when you manually lever the rod in / out of transfer case ?
I'm 'pretty sure' the front diff actuator won't work until the transfer case rod is slid forwards to its 4wd position.
iirc you can test the front diff actuator by swapping the vac hoses on the pair of vsv's - this was on a 3.0, I never needed to play about with the set up on my old 2.4.
I'm gonna have to crawl back under the truck and see what happens.
With the 4wd selected it does turn on the motor but I don't know if the contact disk is in the right position
And I don't know now which way in relation to pushing the selector rod it was turning.
Grrr
